Frequently asked questions

QHow much electricity does a 600 W sun heater use?

600 W means 0.6 units (kWh) per hour on high, and 0.3 units per hour on the 300 W setting. Multiply by your per-unit rate to see the cost — for example, at Rs 60 per unit, high costs about Rs 36 an hour.

QCan it heat a whole room?

A sun heater is a spot heater: it warms the people and things it faces, within about 1–2 metres. For warming a whole closed room evenly, a fan heater or an oil-filled radiator works better.

QDoes a halogen heater use up oxygen?

No. Electric heaters do not burn anything, so they do not use oxygen or make carbon monoxide like gas heaters. They can make the air feel dry — keep a bowl of water in the room if that bothers you.

QCan I run it on solar or a UPS?

The low 300 W setting is light enough for many solar and inverter setups. Check your inverter's spare capacity first, and remember the heater will drain batteries quickly at night.

QWhat if the rod stops glowing?
