Electric Heaters: how to choose the right one
In short
- There are four main kinds of electric heater: sun / halogen (glowing dish), quartz rod heaters, fan / ceramic heaters and oil-filled radiators.
- Want warmth where you sit for the lowest bill? A 300–600 W sun heater. Want the whole room warm? A fan heater or an oil radiator.
- Expect about Rs 1,000–2,500 for sun and rod heaters, Rs 2,500–6,500 for fan heaters, Rs 13,000–25,000 for ceramic and wall heaters and Rs 25,000–70,000 for oil radiators.
- Electric heaters burn nothing — no gas smell, no carbon monoxide, no oxygen used. They are the safer choice for closed bedrooms.
- Cash on delivery in every city, free delivery on orders over Rs 3,000, and a 7-day replacement if it arrives faulty.
Why more Pakistani homes are switching to electric heaters
Every winter the same story repeats: gas pressure drops just when you need it, LPG cylinders get expensive, and every year there are tragic news reports of families hurt by gas heaters in closed rooms. Electric heaters solve all three problems — they work whenever there is electricity, they cost nothing to install, and they do not burn anything, so there is no carbon monoxide.
The worry most people have is the bill. The answer is choosing the right type and wattage. A 600 W sun heater uses less than a third of the electricity of a 2,000 W fan heater, and it warms you within seconds because it heats you directly, like sunshine. Fan heaters and oil radiators use more power, but they heat the whole room — and with a thermostat they switch themselves off once the room is warm.
Many homes end up with two: a low-watt sun or rod heater for sitting in the lounge, and a fan heater or oil radiator for the bedroom at night. This page brings every type together so you can compare.

Buying checklist
- Room or spot? heat the whole room (fan, oil) or just where you sit (sun, rod)?
- Room size: roughly 10 W per sq ft for whole-room heating — a 12×12 ft room (144 sq ft) needs about 1,500 W.
- Your wiring and UPS: big heaters need a good wall socket; on UPS or solar, stay at 300–600 W.
- Thermostat: saves electricity by switching off when the room is warm.
- Safety features: tip-over switch, overheat protection and a proper grill.
- Brand or no-brand: Sogo, Maxx, Gree, Black+Decker and Seco carry brand warranties; no-brand heaters are cheaper and simple.
- After-sales: buy where a faulty unit is replaced quickly — and pay on delivery.
- Keep every heater at least 1 metre from curtains, bedding, sofas and clothes — never dry clothes on a heater.
- Plug heaters straight into a wall socket. Cheap multi-plugs and long extension boards can overheat and melt.
- Stand it on a flat, hard floor so the tip-over switch works; never on a bed, sofa or thick carpet.
- Switch it off when you sleep or leave the room, and keep children and pets away from hot grills.
- Not for bathrooms or wet areas.

01What is the price of an electric heater in Pakistan?
Sun (halogen) and rod heaters cost about Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,500, fan heaters Rs 2,500 to Rs 6,500, ceramic tower and wall heaters Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000, and oil-filled radiators Rs 25,000 to Rs 70,000.
02Which electric heater uses the least electricity?
A sun (halogen) heater on its 300 W setting or a 400 W handy heater. They warm you directly instead of heating all the air in the room.
03Which heater is best for a whole room?
A fan or ceramic heater with a thermostat warms a closed room quickly; an oil-filled radiator gives the most even, silent warmth.
04Are electric heaters safe in a closed room?
Electric heaters burn nothing, so they do not make carbon monoxide or use oxygen like gas heaters. Keep them away from curtains and bedding, use a wall socket and switch them off when you sleep.
05Do electric heaters make the air dry?
They can make the air feel a little dry. A bowl of water in the room or opening the door now and then helps.
06Can I run an electric heater on UPS or solar?
Yes, small ones — a 300–600 W sun heater or a 400 W handy heater. Check your inverter's spare capacity first; big fan heaters and oil radiators are too heavy for most UPS systems.
07How much electricity does a 2,000 W heater use?
2 units (kWh) per hour while the element is on. With a thermostat it switches off once the room is warm, so the real use is usually lower.
08Is cash on delivery available?
Yes. Every order is cash on delivery, and delivery is free on orders over Rs 3,000.
