"Which is the best electric heater?" depends completely on where you will use it and who will sit in front of it. A heater that is perfect for a student's desk is useless in a big lounge, and the best bedroom heater is a poor choice on a UPS. Here are our honest picks for the situations Pakistani families ask us about most.
Our picks at a glance
| Situation | Best pick | Power | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lounge sofa, 2–4 people | SG-06 stand heater | 450 / 900 W | 17" dish, oscillates across the sofa |
| Lowest bill | 300/600 W sun heater | 300 / 600 W | Instant warmth, 0.3 units an hour on low |
| Closed bedroom | TRIMUX heater fan | 1,000 / 2,000 W | Warms the whole room, thermostat |
| Elderly parents | Gree 13-fin oil radiator | 2,200 W | Silent, even, no glow |
| Home with small children | Seco wall heater | 1,000 / 2,000 W | Mounted high, out of reach |
| Study desk | Foldable rod heater | 400 / 800 W | Small, quiet, tip-over switch |
| UPS or solar home | Maxx MX-113 | 250 / 500 W | Very low watts, thermostat |
| Premium bedroom | Sogo JPN-76 tower | 1,200 / 2,200 W | Remote, timer, exact temperature |
Best for the lounge
Lounges are big and draughty, so heating all the air is expensive. A tall oscillating stand heater points infrared warmth at the sofa and sweeps it across everyone sitting there. The SG-06 (17-inch dish) or the 450/1000 W stand heater are our favourites.
Best for the bedroom
In a closed bedroom you want the whole room warm. A fan heater with a thermostat does that in 10–20 minutes. Warm the room before bed, then switch it off — or choose an oil radiator if someone needs gentle warmth for longer.
Best on a budget
The classic 2-rod room heater and the 300/600 W sun heater are the cheapest heaters to buy and to run. They are spot heaters — perfect for one or two people sitting close.
How we chose
- We matched each heater type to the room it suits best.
- We checked wattage against typical Pakistani wiring and UPS capacity.
- We preferred models with tip-over switches, overheat protection or thermostats.
- We only list brands under their real names.
Mistakes to avoid
- Buying a sun heater to heat a whole bedroom — it warms the person, not the room.
- Running a 2,000 W heater on a cheap multi-plug.
- Leaving any heater on all night near bedding.
- Believing "zero bill" or "70% saving" claims.
